Exhibition at Aula of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna by scholarship holders of the ASoP* scholarship program of the BMEIA in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

City Springs

City Springs are three ceramic house-fountains. Through architectural imagination, the artist reflects on what social housing in a contemporary multicultural city might look like. The sculptures are inspired by utopian ideas of the house-garden — a space where nature and water are present, and where people of different backgrounds, plants, and other living beings can peacefully coexist.

At the same time, they are visually saturated with memories of the artist’s abandoned home, of postwar modernist architecture, and of a newly acquired one — discovered through the tags and graffiti she encountered on the streets of Vienna.

* A European Artists Solidarity Program (ASoP) is a program that emerged from the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. It is intended to protect those artists whose creativity, existence, and often even whose lives are severely threatened by the political upheavals of our time. ASoP is financially supported by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMEIA) of the Republic of Austria.
