Exhibition at Aula of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna by scholarship holders of the ASoP* scholarship program of the BMEIA in cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

65 Years of the Vukojebina Museum

For the 65th anniversary of the Museum of Vukojebina, Karabinovych presents a new body of work that extends his ongoing inquiry into violence, the language of propaganda, and the mythology of failure.

At the center of the exhibition stands a deceptively simple question: At what point does cruelty reach its threshold? Karabinovych does not answer it directly. Instead, he constructs a scenario — a speculative script for a future that feels disturbingly familiar and rooted in an event from the past that remains obscure, unresolved, resistant to clarity.

The installation invites the viewer to sit with contradiction and injustice, to examine them carefully. In 65 Years of the Vukojebina Museum, Karabinovych analyzes historical contradictions and social injustice, and through a simple act of smile attempts to demystify and disarm harsh reality.

* A European Artists Solidarity Program (ASoP) is a program that emerged from the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. It is intended to protect those artists whose creativity, existence, and often even whose lives are severely threatened by the political upheavals of our time. ASoP is financially supported by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMEIA) of the Republic of Austria.
