Die Stürze (The Falls)
Performance on the theme of falling, based on Amitav Ghosh's book The Nutmeg's Curse. What must fall and how? Falling backwards, changing direction, falling in slow motion. The audience experiences falls to come, in the Gallery of the Studio Building.
Performance shown in the Gallery of the Studio Building, which has been set up as an experimental lab.
A machine drops objects from a height of several meters, and scientists measure their speed. Gravity remains one of the fundamental physical forces that is not yet fully understood, as it continues to defy the equations of the standard model. It is not only a scientific enigma, but also a political, aesthetic, and existential one. Falling upside down, stopping in midair, changing course, falling in slow motion...
It is on the basis of these inexplicable phenomena that “The Falls ” invites us to imagine the falls to come. Which falls faster: the fall of the Austro-Hungarian Empire or the fall of the subprime mortgage market? Falling into depression or falling into each other's arms? A Snowfall or to fall in love?
