As part of the Curatorial Studies seminar at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, British Curator Emily Pethick will talk about her activity at Casco, Office for Art, Design and Theory, in Utrecht and other curatorial projects involved in the politics of education.

Biographic information
From 2005 Emily Pethick has been working as the director of Casco,Office for Art, Design and Theory, in Utrecht, The Netherlands. From2003-2004 she was curator at Cubitt, where she founded the ongoingannual self-publishing fair and touring archive Publish and be Damnedwith Kit Hammonds. She has frequently contributed to catalogues andmagazines, including Frieze, dot dot dot, GAS, texte zur kunst,Artforum.com and Untitled, and edited books, such as Casco Issues X:The Great Method, with Peio Aguirre, and has recently joined theeditorial board of Afterall journal. Freelance projects includecurating the Lisson Gallery summer show ‘Imagine Action’ in 2007, andfilm programmes 'Hall of Mirrors' for Ian White's ‘Kinomuseum’ in theOberhausen Film Festival, and ‘An Ambiguous Case’ for Tanja Widmann’sperformance programme ‘Look B: Nothing is exciting. Nothing is sexy.Nothing is not embarrassing’ at MUMOK, Vienna, April 2008, which willalso be screened at Kunsthalle Basel, June 2008.
