This year the Cathrin Pichler Prize was awarded to Masimba Hwati. Masimba Hwati works as an artist intermediary in the fields of sculpture, sound, performance and video. Since 2020, Masimba Hwati has been part of the PHD in Practice program at the Academy.

Honouring the thinker, curator, author and teacher, the Cathrin Pichler Prize is awarded annually to a student or alumni_alumnae of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna who deals with specific artistic methods and practices as contribution to a scientific discourse. The City of Vienna provides the prize money of 2,500 euros.
