University Professor of theory, practice and communication of contemporary arts
at the Institute for Art Theory and Cultural Studies according to § 98 of the Universities Act 2002 (Universitätsgesetz 2002). The duration of the professorship is 5 years, starting in October 2008.
The Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna is currently accepting applications for the following position:
University Professor
of theory, practice and communication of contemporary arts at the Institute for Art Theory and Cultural Studies according to § 98 of the Universities Act 2002 (Universitätsgesetz 2002). The duration of the professorship is 5 years, starting in October 2008.
The field of duties covers holding the chair of the department, teaching at least 6 units per week of classes in the abovementioned field, supervising theses and dissertations and participating in university committees.
Application requirements:
- A degree in the field from an Austrian university, equivalent foreign university or a qualification that may be considered equivalent;
- excellent academic qualification in the field;
- proof of pedagogic and didactic skills and experience;
- international experience and practice in art and cultural criticism outside academia;
- ability to hold a chair and to contribute to developing scholarly work in the arts and sciences by promoting the Academy’s research activities;
- research and publication in the field;
- willingness to participate in university committees and to cooperate with colleagues.
Preferred qualifications:
- knowledge of interdisciplinary art theory and cultural studies in reference to popular culture phenomena;
- experience and knowledge of current discourse on contemporary art -production.
