The following position at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is advertised:

University Professorship GLC
in accordance with § 99 Universitätsgesetz 2002 for architectural design at the Institute for Art and Architecture (Kunst und Architektur,  IKA) in full employment from 1 February 2021 for three years.

The architectural education at the IKA is based on an interacting structure of five platforms, each dedicated to a specific focus. These five platforms are: Analogue Digital Production (ADP), Structural Materials Technology (CMT), Ecology Sustainability Cultural Heritage (ESC), History Theory Critique (HTC), Geography Landscapes Cities (GLC). This professorship is located in the platform Geography Landscapes Cities. The tasks of the professorship include design teaching, lectures and research, and administration.

Required qualifications:
Applicants should demonstrate expertise in the field of geography - landscapes - cities and have sufficient university teaching experience and practice to put these topics in relation to theory and architectural design. Applicants should view the platform as a design-oriented, holistic and culturally oriented place of architectural education, which also offers new career perspectives to architecture students.
Within the platform's field of knowledge, at least one research focus should be specified as part of the application. Networking with similarly oriented research groups within and outside of the academic world is expected in order to connect all relevant fields of knowledge - from technical to artistic practice.

Conditions of employment:
•    qualification as an architect with a completed university or college education or proof of an equivalent academic qualification, depending on the application.
•    proof of an internationally recognized highly qualified design and construction practice and/or scientific expertise in the field of geography, landscapes, and cities by proof of published research and relevant publications
•    proof of scientific/artistic achievements and several years of university teaching experience in the field of geography - landscapes - cities
•    excellent knowledge of English and/or German
•    gender competence and intercultural competence

The teaching obligation includes courses of at least 14 hours per week.

As part of the application procedure, there will be a public hearing of the selected candidates.

The application should include a detailed curriculum vitae, reference projects, a description of the candidate's teaching approach, descriptions of previous courses and student research projects, and a description of a research focus.

The monthly gross salary according to the collective bargaining agreement for university employees in salary group A1 is currently Euro 5,245.6.  Depending on the qualification profile, payment in excess of the collective bargaining agreement is possible.
