In 2022, the 18th BEST AUSTRIAN ANIMATION FESTIVAL returns to the Filmcasino in Vienna, where Austrian animated film in all its diversity will be placed at the centre of the festival on the big screen. With films by students of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

Almost 200 works were submitted for the 2022 competition, of which 91 films with a total length of 6.5 hours were selected for 6 competition programmes. This year, the number of student works was surprisingly high; in addition to the training centres and institutes in Vienna, submissions came from Innsbruck, Graz, Salzburg, Linz, Hagenberg, Purkersdorf, Mödling and Budapest.
