A Night at the Paintings Gallery - Long Night of Museums 2026

Are you familiar with Hieronymus Bosch’s Last Judgement Triptych? Come and see the highlight of the Paintings Gallery’s outstanding collection at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, and the current exhibition The Great Michelangelo Is Dead! Avant-garde and Academicism. This exhibition aims to give new form to an age-old debate. It will not use academicism as a pejorative label for all that is outdated, nor credit the avant-garde with a monopoly on the new. Rather, the objective is to uncover the creative dynamic playing out between these two poles.
