The Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is inviting applications for the following position:

University professor

according to section 98 University Act 2002 (Universitätsgesetz 2002) for the Fine Arts Study Programme with a concentration in Film and Television at the Institute for Fine Arts. Prospective starting date: 01.03.2013 (contract limited to 5 years, extension possible)

Requirements:

  • outstanding artistic qualifications in the area of Film and Television, giving special consideration to a conceptual notion for artistic production which reflects filmic media in a formal and methodological manner. In terms of a transdisciplinary  understanding of art the successful candidate will interrelate with other disciplines, media and genres in her/his work, candidates' readiness to engage in debates on film and media theory will be welcomed;
  • Austrian or international university level degree commensurate with the position (or comparable artistic qualification),
  • documented artistic qualifications and national and international presentations and exhibitions;
  • documented pedagogical and didactical qualifications;
  • capacity for the development and appreciation of the arts within the framework of the research activities at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (artistic research projects);
  • readiness to engage in university committee work (working language German) and to cooperate with colleagues is a prerequisite.
  • The successful candidate will be required to move to Vienna. Fluency in German and/or English is also a must.

Teaching obligations consist of 17 units per week.

The gross monthly salary according to the collective bargaining agreement for university employees in group A1 is currently EUR 4,571.20. Salary may be increased contingent upon candidates' qualifications.
