Artistic Research Exhibition 2027 | Off Grid
The Artistic Research Exhibition (ARE) 2027 will be hosted from 20 April to 5 May 2027 in Bratislava and online, organized by FilmEU / WIRE. The call for contributions on the theme "Off Grid" is open.
Theme
OFF GRID. Stepping outside the systems that track, register, and connect us is rarely a neutral act. OFF GRID invites artistic research investigating the paradoxes of invisibility, surveillance, and digital refusal. From AI tracking and privacy as a luxury, to the paradox of social media induced isolation, we welcome works examining forced or chosen disconnection across technology, ecology, and social structures.
Accepted Formats and Requirements
- audiovisual and media-based works resulting from artistic research (film, experimental moving image video art, installation, sound art, immersive media...).
- Works must be completed within the last two years.
- We accept completed projects, as well as works in progress, if completion is guaranteed prior to the exhibition.
Eligibility
- The call is open to all international artists, researchers, and practitioners globally.
- While an academic affiliation or postgraduate research track is preferred, it is not required.
- Selected in-person participants will receive travel and accommodation reimbursement up to 300 euros per project.

The deadline for submissions is 13 December 2026.
