Claudia Larcher | Artist

Claudia Larcher is an Austrian artist and filmmaker. Her artistic research centres on the materiality of the digital. She investigates how algorithmic image production influences our perception of reality and what implications this has. She pays particular attention to the intertwining of photography and artificial intelligence as well as the debate on digital humanism and post-human visual aesthetics. Claudia Larcher uses AI not only as an analytical instrument, but also as an experimental tool to break down and redefine traditional boundaries between media forms.

In 2023, she was awarded the Austrian Art Prize in the Artistic Photography category for her innovative approach to image production and reception. Her work has been presented in numerous exhibitions in Austria and abroad, including at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City, the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Gray Area Festival in San Francisco, the HOW Art Museum in Shanghai, the Kunstfest Weimar, Manifesta 13 and the Tokyo Wonder Site in Japan.
