Abstract

Since the introduction of watercolor painting to China in the early 20th century, it has formed a unique artistic style after nearly a hundred years of development. This article aims to explore the evolution and development of contemporary Chinese watercolor painting. Gradually occupy a place in the Chinese art circle and the international contemporary art context. And it has become the only medium that Chinese contemporary art has not directly copied or copied the development of Western contemporary art. Watercolor painting is widely accepted as one of the main media for artistic creation today, which is generally recognized and has too many irreplaceable characteristics. This article analyzes the artistic development evolution, characteristics, political factor orientation and social and cultural background of contemporary Chinese watercolor painting through twelve chapters, revealing the development trend and future prospects of contemporary Chinese watercolor painting.

Short biography

Born in Qingdao; 2008: Graduated from Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien with postgraduate degree in painting and new media; Since 2012: Pursuing PhD in art philosophy and anthropology of art at Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien.
