Cathrin Pichler Prize

Honouring the thinker, curator, author, and teacher Cathrin Pichler, this prize will be awarded to a student or alumna_alumnus of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, who – in the sense of Cathrin Pichler – deals with specific artistic methods and practices as contribution and intervention to a scientific discourse. The prize is endowed with 2.500.- Euro sponsored by the City of Vienna. The certificate will be awarded in the frame of a ceremony.

Application requirements

Enrolled students of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and graduates who have completed their studies at the academy within the last five years* can submit their proposals. The prize is awarded to an artistic-scientific project. Qualification works such as diplomas, master theses, or dissertation projects are excluded.

* Exception due to social reasons: If the graduation was longer ago, it is still possible to submit with proof of, e.g. years spent for childcare, disease or care for dependents, etc.

Submission

Submission period yearly mid of March to mid of April

Submissions are only possible via the Academy's submission system https://calls.akbild.ac.at/. To use our submission system https://calls.akbild.ac.at, you have to register once (if you haven't an account already). You can then log in with your access data, you cannot log in with the AkademieOnline password.

Necessary documents for submission

  • Project: documentation of the submitted project (PDF with max. 5 MB, max. 30 pages)
  • Portfolio: documentation of artistic-scientific work (PDF with max. 5 MB, max. 30 pages)
  • Tabular curriculum vitae (CV)

Films, videos, and sound works may be provided via a link (Vimeo, YouTube, incl. password) in the application mask.

Only applications with complete information and documents that meet the stated criteria can be considered. Please note that the submission deadlines must be strictly adhered to; applications submitted late or incomplete cannot be considered.
