Schwelle
An exhibition with Adrien Tirtiaux, Maria Petschnig, Michaela Schweighofer, Ralo Mayer, and Stine Ølgod, curated by Ingeborg Erhart and Sofie Mathoi.
What separates the inside from the outside—and what connects them? A wall, a pane of glass, a convention.
Schwelle brings together five artistic practices that do not merely address this transition but physically challenge it. The works by Adrien Tirtiaux, Maria Petschnig, Michaela Schweighofer, Ralo Mayer, and Stine Ølgod penetrate spaces and spheres, shift their contours, and question who owns space—who occupies it and how.
A threshold marks both access and exclusion, is both an invitation and a barrier, and creates gaps and interstices that in turn enable autonomy.
