Harald Szeemann's Mountain of Truth: Research-Based Curating around 1980
A lecture by Petra Lange-Berndt (University of Hamburg), organized by Sabeth Buchmann and Isabelle Lindermann, Institute for Art Theory and Cultural Studies.
Around 1980, Harald Szeemann provided a historical perspective on alternative movements of the time. In the exhibition "Monte Vertà / Mountain of Truth," he focused on the sanatorium in Ascona run by Ida Hofmann and Henri Oedenkoven, as well as the life reform movement. This lecture contextualizes this phenomenon, problematizes the associated myth-making, and focuses on right-wing tendencies.
