Ute Meta Bauer, Sabine Breitwieser, and Stephan Schmidt-Wulffen debate the potential of the courses of studies offered by the Academy

Participants:

Ute Meta Bauer , freelance curator, professor and Director of the Visual Arts Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge).
Sabine Breitwieser , exhibition curator, secretary/treasurer of CIMAM – International Committee of ICOM for Museums and Collections of Modern Art
Stephan Schmidt-Wulffen , Rector, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna

This year’s Curator’s Project at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna is entitled "Which Life? Between Calling and Career." Works by students will be highlighted against the background of the ongoing debate about the form and structure of their courses of study and with respect to later working-life realities. The results will be presented in an exhibition.
The discussion panel will be debating the potentials of the courses of study offered by the Academy which – the fields of study being
"Architecture", "Visual Art", "Stage Design", "Conservation/Restoration", and "Art Education" – differ widely with regard to the actual careers they lead to, and will raise the question of what the challenges are that art production faces today.
