Gender & Space // Marie Paulin Lang: CALLING LISA
The video work invites the viewer to encounter an individual memory through images and sound, which, upon closer inspection, can shed light on many feminist issues.
Within the video work, including several phone calls, the artist wants to meet one of her grandmothers memories. Its bound to the feeling of being surrounded by women in the space of a baking house, which was a place of commons, gossip and warmth. A lifetime as a housewife, female knowledge, the importance of home and loneliness at the end of such a life, appear in the form of an essay film.
