Helen Zeru is a multimedia visual artist whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Within her practice, Helen Zeru works with context-based performances and works with the idea of transmitting the real event and the acting event, different forms of the same work through different media. For example, transmitting a certain cultural event, history… in to performance then in to a video work then designing manual drawing, and through this process see what are the forms that are transmittable and non-transmittable.

Recent works and projects have been researching on formal and informal art institutions in relation to informal economy and how an informal economy can be a supportive structure to an informal art institution, within countries like Ethiopia where the majority of the economy is informal.
