Michael Salvi, Schenker Salvi Weber Architects

Michael Salvi, born in 1974 in Bern, is an architect and co-founder of the Vienna-based firm Schenker Salvi Weber Architekten ZT GmbH. After training as a structural draftsperson, he studied architecture at the School of Architecture in Biel/Bienne and graduated in 1999. His early professional experience included positions at Bart & Buchhofer in Biel, as well as AllesWirdGut and Jabornegg & Pálffy in Vienna, before founding his own firm in 2009 together with Thomas Weber and Andres Schenker.

The office realized numerous award-winning projects in the fields of culture, education, housing, and public buildings. A particular focus lies in the sensitive handling of existing structures and listed heritage buildings—such as the Post am Rochus in Vienna or the Belvedere Museum in Salzburg. Other notable projects include the KinderKunstLabor in St. Pölten, which was awarded the 2024 Client Prize, and the headquarters of the Berlin Muncipal Waste Management. For the Post am Rochus, the firm received the Austrian State Prize for Architecture in 2018 and was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award in the same year.

From 2012 to 2021, Michael Salvi was a lecturer at the Institute of Architecture & Design at TU Vienna. He is a member of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA) and has been serving on the Design Advisory Board of the city of Waidhofen/Ybbs since 2022.
