Lecture by Dr. Danila Mayer, Vienna (with video footage from Venice and Istanbul Biennials) organized by the department of Conceptual Art within the frame of Post Conceptual Art Practices (PCAP) -Open Critical Debates on Visual and Theoretical productions: “Images, Theory, Politics, and Activism”.

The lecture look at biennials of contemporary art. It is the third and concluding lecture from the series of reflection by Danila Mayer on the last years of biennales in Europe. The analysis is based on material collected in Venice and Istanbul from 2009 to 2013.

Danila Mayer a.k.a. Iman Ithram holds a doctorate in anthropology and has dealt with issues of exclusion and exclusivity. Recent publications are 'Who Am I? What the Pavilions Tell us' in the Roots and Routes special edition on the Venice Biennial ( www.roots-routes.org ), and 'Anthropological Approaches to the Istanbul Biennial of Contemporary Art' in Anthropology of the Middle East, Vol. 8, issue 1, 2013.
