There is not enough sand for construction work anymore. Most of the sand on the planet is too smooth or contains too much chloride for building purposes. At the same time a mushroom has been trained to digest cigarette butts. This kind of litter is collected all around in Australia by a company "Fungi solutions" for the mushrooms to eat the microplastics in the filters and to leave behind mycelium. Could glass beetles be the digestion force for remaking sand from glass?

What happens when they escape the lab?
