About the Senate

What is the Senate?
The Senate is one of the three central governing bodies of the university – alongside the Rectorate and the University Council.

Its most important responsibilities include:
• The establishment of appointment, habilitation, and curriculum commissions
• Participation in fundamental university matters

The Senate consists of a total of 26 members from various groups within the university:

How are members elected?

The members of the three staff groups are elected every three years via lists.
The student representatives are delegated by the Austrian National Union of Students (ÖH).

When does the Senate meet?

The Senate holds regular meetings.
Nine regular meetings are scheduled per academic year.
The agenda is published in advance in the university newsletter.
