Award of Excellence an Martina Fineder-Hochmayr
Martina Fineder-Hochmayr wurde für das Studienjahr 2016|17 vom Bundesministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft mit dem Award of Excellence ausgezeichnet. Ihre Disseration trägt den Titel „The Promise of the Alternative – The Development of Socially and Ecologically Responsive Design and Consumer Culture during the 1970s in West Germany" und wurde von Univ.Prof. Mag. Dr. Elke Gaugele und Univ.Prof. Mag. Martin Beck vom Institut für das künstlerische Lehramt betreut.

Andrea B. Braidt in das Representative Board der European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) gewählt
Seit über 25 Jahren engagiert sich die European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) für die akademische Ausbildung im Bereich der Kunst sowie wissenschaftlicher und seit einigen Jahren künstlerischer Forschung. ELIA hat ca. 300 Mitgliedsinstitutionen in 47 Ländern und vertritt damit etwa 300.000 Studierende in allen Disziplinen von Bildender Kunst, Architektur über Tanz, Design, Film, Musik bis hin zur Darstellenden Kunst.

Diversitas-Preis für "Non-Binary Universities. Maßnahmen zur Stärkung der Geschlechter-Diversität an Universitäten in Österreich"
Am 06.12.2016 wurde der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien ein Diversitas-Preis des Bundesministeriums für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft (BMWFW) für das Projekt Non-Binary Universities. Maßnahmen zur Stärkung der Geschlechter-Diversität an Universitäten in Österreich zuerkannt.

Benjamin Grabherr erhielt den Würdigungspreis des Bundesministeriums für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft 2016
Mit diesem Staatpreis werden seit 1990 jährlich die 50 besten Diplom- und Masterabschlüsse an allen österreichischen Universitäten und Fachhochschulen ausgezeichnet. Dieses Jahr wurde der Würdigungspreis erstmalig auch an einen Architekturabsolventen der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien vergeben. Benjamin Grabherr hat sein Masterstudium 2015 am Institut für Kunst und Architektur abgeschlossen, seine Masterarbeit Uncharted Territory – Habitat in the Garbage Patch ist der Plattform CMT | Construction Material Technology zugeordnet und wurde von Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Arch. Michelle Howard betreut.

EUA Statement condemning the forced resignation of 1577 university deans

Die Akademie schließt sich dem Statement der EUA (European University Association) in allen Punkten an. Wir fordern die österreichische Bundesregierung und das österreichische Parlament sowie die Institutionen der EU, auf mit sofortiger Wirkung alle Kooperationen mit der Türkei ruhend zu stellen. Die Suspendierung von 15.200 Mitarbeiter aus dem Bildungssektor, die Reiseeinschränkung von Universitätsangehörigen sowie die Forderung nach Wiedereinführung der Todesstrafe sind neben zahllosen anderen Verstößen gegen eine rechtsstaatlich-demokratische Grundordnung die ersten Schritte zur Errichtung eines totalitären Systems. Österreich muss hier eine klare Position einnehmen.
