Austria joins the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science; INTK is significantly involved.

Austria has joined the European research infrastructure E-RIHS ERIC ("European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science"), the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMFWF) announced. The Institute of Natural Sciences and Technology in the Arts (INTK) played a key role in the entire development, preparatory work, and application process. It is now also represented on the steering board.

Coordination in Austria is handled by the national consortium E-RIHS.at, which is led by the Austrian Archaeological Institute at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). According to the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMFWF), other consortium members include the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the Association of Museums of the Kunsthistorisches Museum (KHM), the Vienna University of Technology, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, the University of Innsbruck, the University of Vienna, the University for Continuing Education Krems, and the Federal Monuments Office.

E-RIHS ERIC reportedly offers access to advanced analytical methods, mobile and fixed laboratories, digital resources, and internationally networked expertise. Its aim is to provide European researchers and cultural heritage institutions with innovative opportunities for the study and preservation of artworks, monuments, collections, and archaeological objects.
