The lecture series #DIDAKTIK Articulations, Algorithms, Infrastructures and Social Media in Critical Art Education in Digital Times takes place as an international cooperation between the Department of Art and Education (Kunst und Bildung, IKL) at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Art Education programme at the Bern University of the Arts. The lectures have been taking place since summer semester 2021 and will be continued in winter semester.

#Didactics marks the turn to didactics in digital times. In the post-digital culture, referred to as the Internet State of Mind (Chan 2011), and especially since the Social Distancing Rules, which have led to new forms of use of digital tools in teaching, the discussions about the relationship between didactics and the digital are highly relevant. The digital is closely intertwined with our social structures. The digital space offers new forms for artistic production, distribution and reception that also have social and political consequences, which is to be considered central in the context of artistic teacher training studies. In the context of didactics, with the proliferation and increased demand for digital mediation tools and teaching materials, it is essential to discuss how learning and teaching is done under current post-digital conditions and how these demands relate to educational policy. Didactics is a controversial term (Settele/Schürch 2019) that needs to be re-examined and repositioned with regard to the digital; at the same time, the digital opens up a field of action in and for schools (Lingg/Schmidt 2020) - this is where the lecture series comes in.
