Kunsthalle Wien Prize
The Kunsthalle Wien – in cooperation with the University of Applied Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna – annually awards the Kunsthalle Wien Prize to graduates of both art universities.
The prize includes prize money of €3,000 for each of the two winners (one graduate from the Academy and one from the University of Applied Arts) as well as joint exhibition at the Kunsthalle Wien Karlsplatz (including budget for production costs and the development of new works, as well as an exhibition catalog with curatorial texts on the works presented).
Graduating students from the recent academic year with artistic diplomas of the Institute of Fine Arts are eligible to participate. Diplomas from the winter semester can be submitted in January, those from the summer semester can be submitted in June. After registering for the diploma, you will receive an invitation with a link to the submission platform.
At the end of each semester, the jury, consisting of representatives of the curatorial team of the Kunsthalle Wien, an external jury member and the Rector as well as two professors of the Academy, will review the works. During the jury tour you can present your diploma project.
The prize will be awarded at the end-of-year celebration of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in June.
Necessary for submission:
The following documentation must be submitted in one single PDF (max. 5 MB and max. 30 pages):
- description/presentation and installation views of the diploma
- portfolio
- CV
- short motivation letter why your are interested in this award and exhibition
- exact location of the installation of the diploma (in the submission form)
- links to video and sound works can be added in the submission form

Only applications with complete information and documents that conform to the criteria listed above can be considered. Please keep in mind that the deadlines must be strictly adhered to; applications submitted late or incomplete cannot be considered.
