University professorship
in accordance with § 99 Austrian University Act 2002 (Universitätsgesetz 2002) for Architectural Design at the Institute for Art and Architecture (“IKA guest professorship”). This full-time professorship is offered for a period of one year, starting on 17 February 2026.
The following position is announced at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna:
University professorship
in accordance with § 99 Austrian University Act 2002 (Universitätsgesetz 2002) for Architectural Design at the Institute for Art and Architecture (“IKA guest professorship”). This full-time professorship is offered for a period of one year, starting on 17 February 2026.
The architectural education at the IKA is based on an interacting structure of five platforms, each dedicated to a specific focus. These five platforms are: Analogue Digital Production (ADP), Structural Materials Technology (CMT), Ecology Sustainability Cultural Heritage (ESC), Geography Landscapes Cities (GLC), History Theory Criticism (HTC).
The professorship should focus on one or two of the above-mentioned platforms (with the exception of the HTC platform).
Conditions of employment
- qualification as an architect with a completed Austrian or equivalent international university degree or proof of an equivalent academic qualification corresponding to the application
- proof of an internationally recognized highly qualified design and/or construction practice outside the academic field
- university teaching experience in at least one of the four fields of knowledge mentioned above
- excellent knowledge of English and/or German
- general anti-discriminatory understanding and the willingness to further improve these skills
Desired qualifications
- expertise in the field of architectural design
- professional focus on at least one of the four above-mentioned platforms
The teaching commitment includes of at least 14 hours per week.
The monthly gross salary according to the collective bargaining agreement for university employees in salary group A1 for full-time employment is currently Euro 6.604,30.
The application should include a detailed CV, reference projects, a description of the applicant's teaching approaches, descriptions of previous courses with exemplary student work, as well as a description of a specific research focus in one or two of the four platforms mentioned above.
