Short presentations Dr.phil Winter Semester 2026/27 (Session 1)
We cordially invite everyone interested to attend the public short presentations in the Dr. phil. program, where doctoral candidates present their exposés to an academic advisory board.
Within the Doctor of Philosophy (Dr. phil.) program, a short public presentation of the exposé at the Academy is a prerequisite for finalising the Dissertation Agreement. This applies to doctoral students enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy (Dr. phil.) program from the 2025/26 winter semester onwards.
Preparation
Submission of a preliminary exposé and registration for a presentation date
The following documents must be uploaded as PDFs:
- current Record of Studies (Studienblatt)
- Exposé
Registration and submission of the exposé must be carried out exclusively via the Academy’s submission platform. Registration is open between 15 September and 13 October. You will find a link here once registration is open.
- Coordinate your registration and presentation date with your proposed supervisor.
- Please also take a look at our recommendation on writing an exposé.
Presentation
10-minute presentation to an academic advisory board, followed by a discussion
The program for the two presentation dates (16 November and 23 November) will be finalized in the course of October and announced here
After the presentation
Candidates receive a written recommendation (Feedback form) from the academic advisory board regarding the finalization of the Dissertation Agreement – the academic advisory board’s responsibilities include confirming the feasibility of the planned dissertations at the Academy and the supervision arrangements, making any recommendations for co-supervision or team supervision, providing feedback on the exposé, and fostering a culture of respectful, collegial discussion.
The feedback form should be taken into account when revising the exposé and finalizing the Dissertation Agreement. Please discuss this with your supervisor.
The Dissertation Agreement can only be submitted once the exposé has been presented.
