  • Robert Vanis – back of a book

    In back of a book, Robert Vanis will replace the spines of selected historical books in the reading room with mirrors, photographs, facsimiles, photographic paper, and glass. The work reflects on representation and (in)accessibility, as well as the materiality and transience of knowledge. A project realised as part of Foto Wien 2025 at the Academy Library.

    The first edition of the Bourdieu Lectures will take place on 19–20 November 2025 at the Kunsthalle Bielefeld, under the title Gender – Domination – Visuality. This conference is a joint initiative by the University of Bielefeld,  Zeppelin University (Friedrichshafen), University of Education Freiburg and Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien, in close cooperation with the Fondation Bourdieu.

    Art historian Evan Neely will be presenting on the work of African American landscape painter Robert S. Duncanson.   • KI Care Café - networking, exchanging ideas, thinking ahead

    on artificial intelligence in art classes

    The KI ​​Care Café is a practice-oriented exchange for art teachers and student teachers in art and design, but is open to anyone interested. Over three evenings, we will explore ways to meaningfully use artificial intelligence in art classes and in supervising student work. Invited experts will provide insights into current AI technologies and related issues and potential. This will be followed by an exchange of experiences on everyday teaching, the critical use of various tools, and the collaborative development of new ideas. The format promotes networking and provides space to reflect on AI in the context of art education, school practice, and beyond.

    We invite you to a relaxed evening get-together in the Academy Library, including snacks and drinks. Everyone is welcome!
