Guided Tour

The publication Das Cathrin Pichler Archiv von RPU-Artaud-001 bis DAV-Plakate-029 (Mark Pezinger Books, 2024) is the first volume of the series Fine Companions by the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

Book presentation

The exhibition is examining the written estate of curator and academic Cathrin Pichler (1946–2012). At 17 h, a book presentation of the epynomous publication is taking place.

Guided tour

The starting point of the discussion is the work of students in three mobile architectures designed by the artist and teacher Steffi Alte, the so-called “demoraum K”, which can be found in the exhibition.

Artist Talk

Bookshop, discourse platform, political centre, community space: The Hopscotch Reading Room is the first book and reading space in the German-speaking world that, as an intersectional space, helps to make visible groups that have no right to speak, diaspora communities, migrant literature and unpublished political and poetic thoughts.

Lecture

We create space for communication every day, here we learn, unlearn and relearn. We try to create visibility for decolonial thinking, anti-racism, emotions and intergenerational perspectives.

Guided Tour (German)

As a project co-operation partner of the exhibition project Soundscapes of Intersectional Encounters: Exploring Identity Through Sound, D/Arts is an important contemporary input provider at a local level. The exchange between the academy, as a generator of knowledge, other cultural organisations and groups that are not at the assumed centre of a cultural landscape is exciting and will be discussed here.

Lecture

Simon Inou will help participants of the course to realize their projects as podcasts by offering an introduction to consciously using media and radio programming to create intersectional narratives and allow a rethinking and undoing of privileges that are not blessings but rather disguised hindrances to create future linearities.

Workshop

Inviting different generations to the project and exhibition space is important to show the commonly understood narrative offered by various diaspora and migrant communities. We thus cover a timeline from the late 20th century to contemporary productions while the stories and biographies represented go far beyond it – being caught in the onslaught of the aftermath of colonial and economic propositions that might even be unwanted.

The exhibition and educational project Soundscapes of Intersectional Encounters: Exploring Identity Through Sound deals with the production of sound – from popular and artistic music productions to oral narratives – which are identity-forming for diasporas and intersectional communities.
