  • Horizon Europe | ERC Starting Grant 2026

    The ERC Starting Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are starting their own independent research team or programme. Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition, and feasibility of their research proposal.

  • Open Call of the Academy | Publication Series 2025 for text-based publications

    The current call is aimed at the production of publications for which the manuscript has been completed as far as possible and at least a comprehensive text sample is available, e.g. an entire chapter, for a timely start of production. Thematically, the call is open.

  • Otto Mauer Fonds | Msgr. Otto Mauer Prize 2025

    In continuation of the mission of Msgr. Otto Mauer (1907–1973), who gained international recognition for his commitment to contemporary art and young artists, the Otto Mauer Fonds will award the 45th Msgr. Otto Mauer Prize for Visual Arts (painting, graphic arts, sculpture, objects, installations, new media) at the end of the year.

  • Universität Leiden | CINETS 2026: Crimmigration in an Age of Authoritarian Drift

    CINETS is a bi-annual conference and will be hosted 5 to 7 July, 2026 at the University of Leiden, Netherlands. It deals with the fusion of criminal law and immigration (crimmigation) which has gained material and symbolic importance.

  • AAPS | Conference for Advancing the Participatory Sciences 2026

    The "Conference for Advancing the Participatory Sciences" will be held online May 26–29, 2026. Organized by the  Association for Advancing Participatory Sciences, it conveines researchers, moderators and project leaders for four online conference days. The event presents leading voices from the participatory sciences and aims to enable dynamics discussions.

  • Second Elfriede Mejchar Award for Photography

    The Elfriede Mejchar Award for Photography has been awarded for the first time on the occasion of Elfriede Mejchar's 100th birthday in 2024 as part of the commemorative exhibition that the Province of Lower Austria holded at the State Gallery of Lower Austria in Krems. After that, the prize will be awarded biennially until further notice.

  • Emanuel and Sofie Fohn Scholarship Foundation | Scholarship 2025

    The Emanuel and Sofie Fohn Scholarship Foundation is once again offering up to 10 scholarships this year, totaling EUR 20,000, for exceptionally talented students and graduates from Austria and South Tyrol, as well as for Italians with German as their first language.

  • Open Call of the Academy | Dissertation Completion Fellowship 2025/26

    The Dissertation Completion Fellowship aims to support doctoral students in the last phase of their dissertation until completion. Fellows will receive the stipend for a period of six months in the year 2026.

    Established in 2005, the B&C Private Foundation’s Houska Prize was set up to promote business-related research and innovation.   • Kristiania University of Applied Sciences | AR@K26: Reclaiming art!

    The symposium AR@K26 (Artistic Research at Kristiania) titled  "Reclaiming art! Creative expression as a building block in our social foundations" will take place 14–15th April  in Oslo. The call for contributions is open.

  • Graphic Collection | Acquisitions of Contemporary Art

    Upon decision of the board of the Association of Friends of Fine Arts (GFBK) on 27 November 1996, the Graphic Collection of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna was accorded an annual budget of for "continuous acquisitions of young Austrian art with special consideration given to graduates of the Academy, but also considering related international works of art".

  • Open Call of the Academy | Demokratie leben

    In July, the initiative Demokratie leben was launched with an invited competition, which ran over the summer on various Gewista Citylights in public spaces in Vienna and on all of the institutions' digital channels. An open call for all students, alumni, and teachers of the academy has now been announced for the continuation of the series in January and February 2026.
