CONGRATULATIONS: MARION THUSWALD AND BELINDA KAZEEM-KAMIŃSKI AWARDED FOR THEIR DISSERTATIONS
The Prize for Scholarly Works 2020/21 is awarded to Marion Thuswald for her dissertation (IKL). The Honorary Award goes to Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński, also for her dissertation (PhD in Practice). Congratulations!

Johanna Dohnal sponsorship prizes are awarded to students or graduates from Austrian colleges and universities for master's or diploma theses or dissertations that promote the realization of gender democracy and set an example for girls and women in training and study.

Congratulations to Lisa Stuckey for the "Award of Excellence 2021"
The 40 best dissertations of the academic year 2020/21 will be honored with the state prize “Award of Excellence 2021” from the Federal Minister for Education, Science and Research (BMBWF).

New Professor for Sculpture and Installation: Nora Schultz
Nora Schultz will be our new professor for Sculpture and Installation at the Academy. Starting February 2022 she will be leading the studio for Sculpture and Installation at the Institute for Fine Arts.

Anna Spanlang and Diana Barbosa Gil to receive the reorganized 2021 Kunsthalle Wien Prize
Scheduled to open at Kunsthalle Wien Museumsquartier in February 2022, the newest iteration in the series of exhibitions held in conjunction with the Kunsthalle Wien Prize will feature works by the two winners of the first prize as well as six other artists.

The Academy back at Schillerplatz!
The Academy of Fine Arts Vienna will return to its historic building on Schillerplatz over the summer after extensive renovation and modernisation. Opening exhibitions in collaboration with the Indian curator trio Raqs Media Collective will mark the end of the move on 8 October 2021 and will be open to all visitors on 9 and 10 October from 10 am to 6 pm with free admission.

Mouth-nose protection mask for self-sewing
The Institute for Education in the Arts has dealt with the design and realization of prototypes for MNS masks for the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the courses Sewing Technique / Cutting Technique by Christiane Gruber and Pia Elisa Nagl. The mask selected for implementation was developed and designed by Alena Stöckl.

Information of the Rectorate

Until further notice, all locations of the Academy will remain closed. Until 30 June 2020 , in order to protect all members of the University and to restrain the spread of the corona virus, no courses with physical presence (seminars, lectures, meetings and meetings of any kind) will be held on the premises of the Academy. With the focus on summer diplomas, the workshops will be opened as soon as the COVID19 protective measures imposed by the Federal Government allow it.

Due to CORVID-19, this year the entire admission procedure at the Institute of Art and Architecture will exceptionally be handled with digital portfolios and the talks will be held using video conferencing tools. Important: all appointment schedules will be maintained!
