The Birgit Jürgenssen Prize 2024, endowed with 5,000 euros, goes to the artist Ayala Shoshana Guy. The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.

The temporary memorial Machtverkettungen, designed by Duha Samir, Student at the Institute for Art and Architecture, has been unveiled on Karlsplatz as part of the Feminist Fight Day 2024 on March 8th. The memorial will be on display until August, 29, 2024.

The first two artists to be selected for the residency from April to June 2024 by a jury consisting of representatives of the Pueblo Museo Genalguacil and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna are Irene Lucas and Patricio Sota.

This year's Hypo Vorarlberg Art Prize was won by the Vienna-based artist duo Romana Hagyo (Gender and Space) and Silke Maier-Gamauf with their two-part work Anthropophytes.

With the help of numerous donors - from very young, little-known artists to international stars - the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna supports students with the Mental Health Fund and Support Fund for particularly promising but socially disadvantaged students. A total of 110,000 euros will go to the associations tralalobe and solidarity matters, which work with refugees in Austria.

The AICA Prize for Young Art Critics, endowed with 12,000 euros and awarded for the first time, goes to Sophia Roxane Rohwetter, Master in Critical Studies student.

For admission to most of the study programs at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (with the exception of some Doctoral Studies) an admission exam must be passed, in addition to meeting other formal criteria. The 1st Elfriede Mejchar Prize for Photography 2024 is awarded to the photographer and artist Lisa Rastl, who was born in Lower Austria and lives and works in Vienna and Burgenland.
